Many many many years ago, in 1869, Grandfather Miltiadis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece.
At a young age he moved to an area known for its silk industry, Artaki a city in Northwestern Asia Minor, where he founded a great business in the fashion industry exporting fabrics to France, Romania and many other countries.
His wife, was a top eccentric bohemian seamstress with a flair for fashion and a great sense of style. She created stunning dresses using silk for all the great ladies of the time and was affectionately referred to by grandpa as ‘Zini’. Many many years ago after the Asia Minor disaster in 1922, the couple returned to Thessaloniki. There, Grandmother Zini opened a studio and continued to design and sew clothes paying great attention to detail and exclusive fabrics. Many years ago Miltos was born in 1958. He was influenced by his mother but more so his grandmother who lived with them. Thus, Zini’s knowledge and particularly her desire to create unique, elegant, quality designs are passed on to Miltos. Years later in 1989, Miltos met Magda, who also worked in the fashion industry and profoundly reminded him of his grandmother. Magda, like Zini was a perfectionist and had an eye for detail and aesthetics. Consequently, they decided to merge and work collaboratively, combining Magda’s aesthetic eye and Miltos’s expertise to form and create the company, Zini. Today the company Zini has many branches throughout Greece and employs 149 people. While clothing production is made exclusively in Greece, the fabrics are created in France, Italy and Spain. Over the last 7 years accessories and furs have been added to the collection. Zini clothes have also been used in many films, TV shows and theatre productions, and last but not least Zini has supported and sponsored many charitable events. Zini is now being launched in New York and has scheduled further initiatives in Europe.
